Justin Trudeau, admirer of Chinese tyranny, gives Americans yet another reason to call a Convention of States

Published in Blog on February 14, 2022 by Article V Patriot

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this week his intention to use emergency powers to shut down the trucker protest of vaccine mandates and other COVID requirements.

The Emergencies Act had never been used and allows Trudeau to freeze truckers’ personal and corporate bank accounts, suspend the insurance on their rigs, and also tow away vehicles. He'll also be investigating the crowdfunding sources the truckers are using to fund their weeks-long protest and forcibly removing truckers who refuse to comply.

This is the same prime minister who said in 2013 that the country he most admired besides Canada was the Communist dictatorship in China. Why? Because they can pursue "green energy" policies.

"There’s a level of admiration I actually have for China. Their basic dictatorship is actually allowing them to turn their economy around on a dime and say, ‘We need to go green, we want to start investing in solar,'" he said.

The American grassroots understand that the U.S. federal government already engages in tyranny, but there are still a large percentage of Americans who believe that tyranny is far from our shores.

Trudeau should give those Americans a wakeup call. The trucker protest is peaceful. It's made life inconvenient for many Canadians, but that's what peaceful protest is all about.

In response, the supposedly liberal prime minister declared a national emergency, froze the bank accounts of the protesters, and is threatening to remove the truckers by force.

National governments in the last two years have grown too used to declaring "emergencies" and suspending civil liberties. We can't control what happens in other countries, but we can control the future of our own. That's why millions of Americans have joined the Convention of States movement.

An Article V Convention of States has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. These amendments can build a permanent and effective firewall against federal tyranny and ensure that what's happening in Canada never happens in the U.S.

Half of the necessary 34 states have passed the Convention of States Resolution, and we hope to reach 20 states in the next few weeks. To get involved, sign the petition below!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
