July's edition of "Grassroots Groundbreakers"

Published in Blog on July 26, 2024 by Matt May

The July edition of the engaging Convention of States Action podcast series "Grassroots Groundbreakers" is now available!

On this month's program, entitled "Getting in Touch with Your WHY", host and COSA chief grassroots officer Mike Ruthenberg chats with COS New Hampshire state director and grassroots coordinator Al Brandano

Al discusses how his son's return from a tour in Afghanistan with the U.S. armed forces in 2014 inspired him to become actively involved with COS.

Al also shares his mindset and strategies when setbacks or frustrations occur with the process of convincing citizens and legislators that an Article V convention will bring proper course correction, and talks about the unique attributes of the New Hampshire state legislature and motivating Granite State volunteers to engage with their representatives.

Al also shares best practices that have evolved with training the grassroots, organizing team calls and meetings, his commitment to cultivating personal relationships with the grassroots, and the sources of his inspirations.

You are sure to enjoy listening to Mike and Al discuss the "Why" for grassroots and will no doubt be able to apply the interesting lessons that Al has learned and generously shares to your own teams. Catch Mike's inspiring discussion with New Hampshire's Al Brandano here

If you missed the first two "Grassroots Groundbreakers" podcasts, you can access them via the same link that directs you to the July edition.

"Grassroots Groundbreakers" is an important and informative resource for everyone who is involved with COS. You won't regret carving out some time each month with Mike and his  guests, who have devised and implemented terrific and innovative grassroots strategies that have proved successful in making strides across the country toward calling an Article V convention.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
