When Joe Biden first introduced his "Build Back Better" boondoggle, the price tag was $3.5 trillion.
It received zero Republican support, and even a few Democrats balked at that astounding cost.
So, supposedly, the White House went back to the drawing board.
Their second stab at "Build Back Better," Biden claimed, would "only" cost the American taxpayers $1.75 trillion -- a 50% decrease!
Nearly $2 trillion way too much money, but a new report has discovered that Biden has been lying about the true cost of the bill all along. In reality, "Build Back Better" will cost closer to $5 trillion.
Thanks to some tricky accounting and fake "sunset" clauses, the bill's authors can claim the smaller price tag knowing all along that the programs contained within it will bankrupt our nation.
Here's how the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget explains it:
The Build Back Better Act relies on a number of arbitrary sunsets and expirations to lower the official cost of the bill. These include extending the American Rescue Plan’s Child Tax Credit (CTC) increase and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) expansion for a year, setting universal pre-K and child care subsidies to expire after six years, making the Affordable Care Act (ACA) expansions available through 2025, delaying the requirement that businesses amortize research and experimentation (R&E) costs until 2026, and setting several other provisions – from targeted tax credits to school lunch programs – to expire prematurely…
We estimate extending expiring parts of the Build Back Better Act would cost over $2.5 trillion, increasing the total cost of permanent extension of the bill to above $4.9 trillion.
In other words, Biden loaded the bill with early sunset provisions he knows won't be enforced. Congress won't have the spine to eliminate government handout programs, and hardworking American taxpayers will foot the bill.
We must stop the federal government from spending this country into the ground. We're already seeing the effects of irresponsible spending. If we can't force Congress and the president to limit spending, our children and grandchildren will inherit a country less free and prosperous than America has ever been.
Fortunately, the Founders predicted this would happen. They knew that one day the federal government would run out of control, and they gave us a way to address these problems: Article V of the Constitution.
Article V allows the states to call a Convention of States to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit federal power, impose term limits on federal officials, and force the federal government to cut spending without raising taxes.
Taken together, these amendments can compel Congress to cut wasteful, useless programs and prohibit them from expanding the programs that are on the books.
