Jen Psaki can't understand why Americans are worried about inflation

Published in Blog on October 20, 2021 by Article V Patriot

If you need any more proof that Washington is wildly out of touch with everyday Americans, here it is.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has been hard at work trying to convince the American people that the inflation crisis isn't really all that bad.

Since her boss's policies have led directly to this disaster, she's doing everything in her power to downplay the country's economic woes. In the process, she's revealed exactly what the Washington "elite" think about problems that affect average American citizens.

Her problems began when White House Chief of Staff Ron Klein tweeted his agreement to the statement that inflation is a "high class problem."

She stumbled and bumbled her way through a defense of Klein's statement, but her first real mishap occurred during a press briefing on October 13. After being asked about the rising prices of virtually all goods in America, she claimed to know how everyday Americans manage their checkbooks.

"We all understand the American people are not looking at cost-to-cost comparisons from this year to two years ago," she said. "They’re looking at cost-to-cost comparisons to their checkbooks from 8 months ago or 12 months ago. And even though, factually, if you look back to two years ago, things may be comparative, that’s not how people look at things."

Please, Ms. Psaki, tell us more about how the American people are too stupid to compare today's cost of milk to the cost two years ago. Everyday Americans are too ignorant, apparently, to realize that the cost of cars, appliances, furniture, and food, is massively higher today than it was in 2019.

Psaki wasn't done downplaying the real financial hardship many Americans are experiencing.

Most recently, on October 19, she made light of the inflation and supply chain crises as "the tragedy of the treadmill that's delayed."

Washington, and especially this administration, doesn't care about us. They're comfortable with their high-paying government salaries and their town homes in Georgetown. They obviously couldn't care less about the plumber in Cleveland who can no longer afford to buy that new (used) car he's been wanting, or the business owner in Fort Worth who's having to close up shop because he can't find employees.

Washington needs a wakeup call. They need to be reminded that they work for us, and that we're not going to let them ruin our economy and our country.

That's why millions of Americans have joined the Convention of States movement. An Article V Convention of States is the only way to permanently, effectively, and safely limit federal power and put Washington back in its constitutional box.

When our federal officials are no longer able to spend our money, dictate our decisions, and turn "public service" into a career, they'll start paying more attention to everyday Americans and less attention to corporate lobbyists or their own tyrannical tendencies.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
