Is President Trump a dictator in line with Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini?
Or is he duty-bound to use the awesome power of the federal government to compel mask wearing and force businesses to produce personal protective equipment?
It can't be both, right? Well, according to California Rep. Maxine Waters, it can.
In a bizarre pair of tweets posted on successive days, Rep. Waters calls on Trump to "use the Defense Production Act to get more personal protective equipment to our hospitals & clinics" and then calls him a "wannabe dictator."
Make no mistake, a wannabe dictator who’ll tear gas his own citizens, invade American cities w/ unidentified federal troops, while using DOJ to get his criminal friends out of jail, will stop at nothing to stay in power! Trump won’t leave WH willingly. We must prepare now!

16THDAY! Trump, it’s been 16DAYS since I sent Cabinet a letter asking U to use the Defense Production Act to get more personal protective equipment to our hospitals & clinics so desperately in need of equipment to deal with surge in #Coronavirus infections.#NoresponsePeopleRDying

In other words, Rep. Waters is happy to criticize Trump for using federal power to advance her agenda, but when Trump uses federal power for other purposes, he's a "dictator."
The American people can see straight through Waters' politicking. Our national representatives don't adhere to principles or values -- they seek political power, and they're willing to flip-flop on any issue to get it.
It's time to inject some common sense into the federal government. The American people don't want their daily decisions dictated by politicians, bureaucrats, or judges. They want the freedom to govern themselves, and that's exactly what a Convention of States aims to accomplish.
An Article V Convention of States can place real, clear, effective limits on federal power by proposing constitutional amendments that limit Washington's jurisdiction. These amendments can shrink the size and scope of the federal government and clarify the Founders' federalist vision.
Waters and politicians like her get away with hypocrisy because no one really knows the limits of federal power. With amendments that clarify those limits, the American people would be better equipped to judge what actions a president can take -- and what actions he can't.
