Hypocrisy Alert! Ayanna Pressley asked landlords to cancel rent while raking in thousands from her tenants

Published in Blog on August 17, 2021 by Article V Patriot

Alongside fellow "Squad" members Reps. Cori Bush and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley is in the running for Biggest D.C. Hypocrite.

A new report has revealed that the progressive Democrat raked in between $5,000 and $15,000 in income from her tenants all while calling for America's landlords to cancel rent.

“Pressley’s 2020 financial disclosure, filed on Friday, disclosed between $5,000 and $15,000 in rental income from a Boston property in her husband’s name. The property was converted into a multi-family apartment after it was purchased, according to Pressley’s disclosure,” Fox News reported, adding, “Pressley’s office did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment on whether she and her husband canceled rent for their tenants at any point in 2020. She disclosed the same range of rental income – between $5,000 and $15,000 – in 2020 as she did in 2019, before the pandemic began.”

The same year she was collecting thousands from her tenants, she was calling on other landlords to cancel rent.

"Keeping families housed is a matter of public health. We must cancel rent, extend eviction and foreclosure moratoriums, provide rental assistance, and offer legal representation for those at risk of eviction. This is a public health emergency," she tweeted in December 2020.

Pressley is happy to call for everyday Americans to lose rental income, but when it comes to her own properties, she's ready and willing to shake down her tenants during a nationwide pandemic.

The hypocrisy of our national leaders has been on full display throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Politicians like Nancy Pelosi shut down salons while demanding private hair appointments. Politicians like AOC tell Americans to mask up without doing so themselves, and politicians like Rep. Pressley call for eviction moratoriums while collecting rent from their tenants.

It's time to force Congress to live by the same laws and regulations they impose on everyone else. They'll never limit their own power, but we can do it for them with a Convention of States.

An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit federal power and jurisdiction, control national spending, and limit the terms of office for federal officials.

With this complete package of amendments in place, the Swamp Monsters will have no choice to but listen to their constituents, get off their high horse, and actually serve the American people.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
