Huge crowd shows up to rally for Convention of States in Kansas (photos)

Published in Blog on March 25, 2021 by Article V Patriot

Rain and cold didn't stop Convention of States patriots from rallying at the Capitol in Topeka this week!

Over 100 volunteers and supporters showed up to hear from Convention of States leaders and urge their state legislators to support the Convention of States Resolution.

“They understand that Kansas has lost its power to the federal government, and they want that power back,” said Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action. “Those are the people I serve. Just the regular people of Kansas, who want to see Washington D.C. out of their lives, and want to see the decisions being made here in the Kansas Legislature.”

In his remarks to those gathered, he emphasized Convention of States volunteers and supporters are the real engine that drives the Article V movement.

“We get accolades for what we do but we do not deserve them. We are not here if you the people are not there. You build a grass roots organization, you build a campaign to get stuff done, only because of people like you," Mark said.

Our Resolution in Kansas is now awaiting consideration by the Senate Federal and State Affairs Committee. They're expected to vote soon, so be looking for another victory announcement!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
