Karleen Kury just had a successful Zoom meeting for Convention of States California supporters in her district, and you can do it, too.
Karleen seemed surprised that she had attendance at all during her very first Zoom meeting. In spite of her uncertainty, it was a complete success.
Have It and They Will Come
"I was just glad anyone showed up at all. I had three people show up. I sent out a mass email about a week before and also a text blast just before."
What Was Her Meeting About?
"To start my meeting I explained why I joined COS," she said. "I then opened it up for them to explain why they chose to sign the petition. I then explained a little about COS and showed the short video about what COS wants to do pertaining to Article V from our COS Resources page and also showed the FAQ PDF from our resources as well.
"Then I went over the three focus areas for amendments and our progress in COS so far."
Then she explained why COS needs volunteers and what being a volunteer might entail.
What Next Moving Forward
"I then explained how I would like to see my leadership team grow and one event I would like to have a booth at: The Stockton Asparagus Festival in May."
Karleen also encouraged "them to create an account on the COS action page, look around, educate themselves, watch a couple videos, and then let me know if they would like to volunteer."
"I also told them to join both the COS and COS California Facebook pages, and Twitter if they have one."
When People Learn More They Will Step Up
"I was able to get one of the three to commit as a general volunteer, and he is about to complete his application," Karleen continued. "I have one more I am hoping to bring on as a Follow Up district team member. So fingers crossed. It has been a learning experience for me, to say the least."
"So not much else. Just set up an outline for myself and kind of let them ask questions as needed."
Keep it simple, be yourself, and they will come.
