It’s no secret that our country has quite a long list of problems currently. Our economy is on the brink of a collapse while inflation climbs to remarkable levels. Gas prices just hit a new high this week, the national average now stands at $4.37. And food shortages seem to be on the horizon with baby food wiped from the shelves nationwide.
But what Congress is focused on this week is giving Americans’ hard-earned money to the Ukrainian government – $40 BILLION to be exact.
That’s how much Democrats are willing to protect another nation’s borders but just not our own.
On Tuesday night, the military aid bill passed with a 368-57 vote, with only Republicans voting against the spending spree. The vast majority of both Democrats and Republicans supported the effort, which begs the question, do they even put a value on the U.S. dollar anymore?
Not just the monetary aspect, but how about the value of the American people who seem to wake up each day with more and more problems thanks to the government.
Many well-known, outspoken Republicans diverted from the majority in voting against the bill, including COS endorsers and Representatives Chip Roy, Jeff Duncan, Louie Gohmert, Ralph Norman and Tracey Mann.
These are the steadfast leaders that don’t allow the inner political pressures to get in the way of their beliefs of minimal government spending.
That’s the mission of the Convention of States Project. We must impose fiscal restraints to stop our leaders from spending money we don’t have on things that have no real benefit to America. America First is a concept that a shocking amount of politicians apparently don’t agree with, but we can make them put our nation first by holding a convention using Article V of the Constitution.
In a convention, all 50 states can gather together to discuss potentially implementing term limits on federal officials, fiscal restraints, and limiting the overall jurisdiction of the federal government.
