D.C. "elite" like civility... as long as their party is in charge.
Check out what Hillary Clinton had to say about civility and the midterm elections in a recent interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
"You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about," Clinton said. "That's why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that's when civility can start again. But until then, the only thing the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength."
It's truly amazing how far our nation's capital has descended into partisan politics. Compromise and civility are a thing of the past as Representatives and Senators work to out-outrage each other in every national TV appearance.
Meanwhile, the American people get left out to dry...
It's time we sent our federal officials a message: they work to serve us, not the other way around.
The best way to send that message is through an Article V Convention of States. The Constitution allows the states to call a Convention for the purpose of proposing amendments to our founding document.
These amendments can limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints on Congress, and mandate term limits for federal officials.
With less power, money, and time to line their own pockets, our federal officials will quickly learn their place in the hierarchy of power -- below We the People.
