By far the most common objection to an Article V Convention of States is the "runaway convention" objection.
In this doomsday scenario, a Convention of States somehow "runs away" and proposes amendments contrary to the subject matter listed in the Convention of States Resolution.
Runaway convention proponents never say how these proposed amendments get ratified under Article V, but they aren't interested in logic or common sense. They're scared of the Convention of States provision the Founders included in Article V, and they want everyone else to be scared, too.
Fortunately, legislators in 18 states so far haven't listened to the lies. South Carolina is set to be the 19th state to pass the Convention of States Resolution, and two of our sponsors put on a master class responding to the "runaway convention" objection.
The video is longer than our previous videos (about 13 minutes), but it's well worth a watch!
