Hawaii Team Goes Big for Final Capitol Visit!

Published in Blog on February 28, 2019 by Mark Kenneth White

The Hawaii team gets ready to visit legislative offices on the last Surge Wednesday of the year. Pictured left to right are Jack and Donna Van Osdol, Stephen Bischoff, Keohla Smith, Jake Wilson and his daughter Aurora, Matt Satterlee, Rita Kama-Kimura, Brett Kulbis, Emil Svrcina, and SD Mark White

After seven weeks of tireless weekly visits, the Convention of States Hawaii team met at the capitol on Wednesday, February 27, to distribute the ultimate grassroots information to every Hawaii legislator—the list of COS petition signers in each district!

The final weekly event was captured by volunteers Shelby and Sunny from Olelo videographer services, and it began with a special presentation of the new Convention of States Patriot Pin to Representative Sam Kong recognizing his four years of steadfast support of Article V and the Convention of States mission in Hawaii.

One of several supportive legislators at the capitol, Rep. Sam Kong was recognized by State Director Mark White (pictured left) with the Convention of States Patriot Pin for his four years of steadfast, dedicated commitment as prime introducer in the Hawaii House of Representatives.

Video recorded by KeoKeikalani (Shelby) Billionaire (center, at camera), State Director Mark White meets with the team to kick off the start of the final set of office visits to all legislators.

Of keen interest to all legislators for this final visit was listing of all Convention of States petition signers in their individual House or Senate District. Also included was the still relevant 2016 Surgical Strike Newsletter "The Time Is Now" explaining why Hawaii should pass a Convention of States resolution.

Hawaii's seven-week surge campaign culminated with the distribution of petition signature listings by legislative district.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
