Grassroots Leadership Focus call a resounding success

Published in Blog on March 12, 2025 by Matt May

Thank you!

Yes, you – the grassroots. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to act, learn, and adjust as we realigned our Grassroots Leadership Focus call to a new format in the wake of February’s frustrating technical issues.

Your patience and forbearance paid off on March 11 with a highly successful and informative call that featured detailed and uplifting reports from our regional directors and assistant regional directors about the whirlwind of activities and progress that COS is making all across the country.

If you happened to miss the gathering and all of the important news and updates therein, you can watch and listen below:

It is said that failure is an orphan while success has a thousand fathers. In this case, success has a few parents, namely Mike Ruthenberg, Joanne Martin, Ginny Rapini, Kristen Stanciu, and Jason Girard, all of whom were instrumental in planning and executing such an important call.

Convention of States Action senior advisor and former U.S. senator Rick Santorum joined while on his way out of Columbus, Ohio, following another dynamic and passionate round of testimony in front of a state Senate committee about the COS resolution and 34|Ready legislation there.

As always, however, it is you – the grassroots – who are ultimately responsible for the success of our endeavors. We appreciate your patience and participation, and look forward to growing the monthly Grassroots Leadership Focus call in order to best serve you.

Our next call is scheduled to take place on April 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET, and our special guest will be COSA president and co-founder Mark Meckler. See you then!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
