Get to know the national team! Mark Meckler sits down with Rita Dunaway and Ginny Rapini at the COS Summit

Published in Blog on August 27, 2019 by Article V Patriot

The Convention of States movement has grown since its founding in 2013 from a small national staff and growing state teams to a 40-person national team coming alongside massive volunteer organizations in every state.

That's great news for the Article V movement as a whole. But, as Mark Meckler explains in the video below, it can make volunteers like you -- the men and women who do the real, on-the-ground work -- feel distant from the folks who make the larger strategic decisions.

That's why, at the first-ever Convention of States Leadership Summit, we wanted to gather three of the five members of the national Executive Team and allow our amazing volunteers and supporters to get to know them a little better.

Rita Dunaway is our National Legislative Strategist. She helps state teams develop a winning strategy to pass the Convention of States resolution in their state legislature. Working closely with her is our Grassroots Director Ginny Rapini. Ginny is responsible for helping state teams grow and manage their local volunteers and leaders.

Together, they've been a crucial part of our victories in 15 state legislatures, and they share more in the video below about what drives them to be a part of the Article V movement and how grassroots and legislative strategy work together in the fight for self-governance.

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
