Parades are a great way to spread awareness and get new volunteers involved. Brothers Richard and Henry Bohnert have constructed a Convention of States float that they bring to parades all across Texas. The float carries the banner “More liberty, less government” as well as our conventionofstates.com website address. The high point of their float is Lady Liberty, with her live flame of liberty.
Fourth of July 2023 was the first time Henry and Richard supported two parades in one day. The Bohnerts are able to transform their float from highway ready to parade ready in a couple hours with help from volunteers. It’s amazing to see the result with Lady Liberty’s torch lit.
The morning parade in Weston had a couple of thousand people from North Collin County weaving through the streets of Weston. The evening parade in Plano had several thousand people attending. Plano did not allow an open flame on the float so Henry and Richard improvised with an electric light. The Weston float had a real flame.
COS volunteers rode and walked along-side the float. Walkers handed out flags with media cards attached. These media cards have a QR code that gives quick access to sign the petition or get more information. They also handed out “Washington is Broken” cards to adults. More than 1,000 pieces of literature were handed out across the two parades.
Our convention of states volunteers had fun wearing patriotic gear. Uncle Sam, AKA Mark Harless, DC HD9 was front and center.
"The crowd feedback was positive,” said Tom Bartel. “They liked the costumes, floats, and appreciated the educational material we handed out. It was uplifting to be with like-minded individuals openly declaring support for our liberty, our rights, and freedom."
Let Henry or Richard know if you would like their awesome Convention of States float to come to your next event.
