The Free Beacon reported that the federal government has been funding nonprofit groups with “tens of millions of dollars” to support the defund the police movement. One of these organizations is the Vera Institute of Justice, based in Brooklyn, NY.
The federal government has provided $89 million dollars of funding through contracts and grants from the Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services, and other federal agencies. Since 2008, Vera has received $811 million dollars in federal funding.
Vera’s president affirms the organization “is committed to dismantling the current culture of policing and working toward solutions that defund police and shift power to communities.” George Soros has also committed over $10 million dollars to the organization from 2016-2019.
Notwithstanding, some states are taking a different approach at protecting their communities. Florida Attorney General, Ashley Moody, announced a new initiative this week to hire law enforcement officers from across the country who may be frustrated with the lack of support in their communities.
The recruitment initiative, “Be a Florida Hero,” is meant to “encourage job seekers from across the country and within our own state to pursue law enforcement careers here in Florida,” said Moody.
As the spouse of a law enforcement officer herself, and Florida’s Top Cop, Moody understands the struggles and sacrifices police officers endure every day.
She intends to overcome the law enforcement shortages in Florida by providing benefit packages and launching a “one-stop shop” website with an interactive map featuring jobs across the state.
Moody notes, “Florida is the most pro-law enforcement state in the nation.”
States such as Florida have stepped-up to fight against the lawlessness being encouraged and protected by some in the media, academia, the entertainment industry, even government officials. Although the fight rages on against Leviathan, the power of the states dwindles as Federalism succumbs.
Nevertheless, Americans are not bound to the will of Congress for relief. Relief was provided by our Founding Fathers in Article V of the U.S. Constitution. The power to amend the Constitution was not reserved for Congress alone.
Article V gives “We the People” the power to amend the Constitution, which “shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes," as part of the Constitution when two-thirds of state legislatures apply for an amendment, and three fourths of the several states ratify such amendments.
In order to get to this point, we need Patriots to step-up and sign a petition that will be sent to their state legislatures asking them to also step-up and sponsor our cause.
If you or someone you know have not signed the petition, please follow this link. To learn more about the process, download our handbook here.
