It pays to be a "public servant" in D.C.
The esteemed Dr. Anthony Fauci finally released his financial documents last week, and the highest paid federal employee is even richer than we thought.
With a $434,312 salary, Fauci is our country's most highly compensated public servant. But that doesn't even begin to cover his annual "earnings."
According to our friends at Open the Books, if you count all of Fauci's perks, benefits, and stocks, his yearly income is actually $1.7 million. That's what Fauci makes as the head of a sub-agency in the federal government's healthcare apparatus.
He's amassed a small fortune in his thirty-plus years in Washington. The same report shows that Fauci's net worth is more than $10.4 million.
Fauci's investment account totals $8.4 million, and it increased by $794,369 in 2020.
To put this in perspective, the median net worth of an American in their 60s or 70s is $266,400, or about $10.2 million less than Fauci. The median household income is $68,703, or about $730,000 less than Fauci.
What has Fauci done to deserve so much more money than hardworking American taxpayers? We'll leave that for you to decide. But we do know this: no "public servant" funded by the American taxpayer should be this rich.
We don't send our hard-earned money to D.C. every year to line the pockets of bureaucrats like Fauci. We want the federal government to use our money wisely and responsibly, not waste it funding the retirement accounts of sub-agency heads.
Big-government bureaucrats will always try to line their pockets, but we can do something to shrink the size of the federal budget as a whole.
An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can impose fiscal restraints on Congress that force our representatives to balanced the budget, cut taxes, and reduce spending.
With this complete package of amendments in place, it's possible the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the sub-agency Fauci runs, wouldn't even make the next budget. The NIAID and other useless or duplicative government agencies would be eliminated, and We the People would have more money to spend on things that actually make our lives better.
