Article V scholar douses hot air with cool facts about Convention of States

Published in Blog on January 29, 2021 by Michael Colburn

This is a worthy republication of Mike Colburn's January 2021 blog:

Political pundits posing as constitutional law experts are coming out of the woodwork lately.

That's why Robert Natelson’s recent article titled "The Solution is a Convention of the States" in The Epoch Times is a breath of fresh air in an environment that is otherwise full of hot air.

Professor Natelson’s credentials speak for themselves, and his call for an Article V Convention of States could not come at a more critical time for the survival of our constitutional republic.

As we witness firsthand the irreparable damage being done to the U.S. Constitution and our nation at the hands of politicians, Convention of States Action is gaining more and more momentum. Putting a stop to fiscal irresponsibility, ending government overreach, and setting term limits have long been an objective of the American people.

It has become painfully obvious that the alternative amendment process put forth in the Constitution whereby the U.S. Congress amends the Constitution to limit their own power is never going to happen. Amendment through a Convention of States was an “11th hour gift” to the American people inserted into the Constitution to rein in a power-hungry Congress.

Professor Natelson artfully illustrates how the political establishment and those interested in subverting our freedoms and way of life have undermined earlier Convention of States efforts and how they will seek to smear and destroy this campaign.

As we proceed towards the metaphorical endzone of restoring sovereignty to the people, we must be mindful of the attacks we will undoubtedly receive. Yet these attacks are just so much hot air, and we must develop a strong defense and counter-attack with cool facts.

In Maryland and in states across the country, Convention of States Action is campaigning to have resolutions introduced, voted on, and passed in all 50 state legislatures.

You can be part of this effort by contacting your local legislators and asking them to call for an Article V Convention of States.
