Elon Musk calls on DOJ to sue DOJ

Published in Blog on August 28, 2023 by Brianna Kraemer

After the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk's SpaceX last week for allegedly hiring Americans over refugees, Musk called on the DOJ to sue itself for its own biased hiring practices.

The DOJ claims SpaceX, a rocket and satellite company, is discriminating by hiring Americans over refugees and asylees. However, as social media users brought to light, the DOJ requires job applicants to be American citizens.

"I just can’t … roflmao … the irony is too much," Musk wrote on X. "DOJ needs to sue themselves!"

As a DOJ job posting shows, the government agency indeed requires applicants to be U.S. citizens in order to apply. Yet in its lawsuit against Musk, lawyers argue that "SpaceX routinely discouraged asylees and refugees from applying and refused to hire or consider them, because of their citizenship status, in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act."

Musk's reaction to the humorous move by the Justice Department sparked conversation on his social media platform X. One user expressed, "We don’t send our brightest to Washington" and another user stated, "I'm pretty sure that you can buy the DOJ, just ask some politicians in Washington."

The DOJ has become a political tool, and it's more likely that this is an attack on an individual who is safeguarding free and open dialogue on a global social media platform.

Our own government is penalizing a company for putting Americans first while the DOJ won't consider refugees for its own positions. We're again left with the old saying, rules for thee but not for me. The well-known phrase is consistently used when it comes to government corruption and lies because Washington bureaucrats always seem to be above the rest of us. They get away with this mentality, which only means one thing– they really do stand above the law.

If we don't put them back in line with every one of us, this tragic abuse of power will further degenerate Americans, while enriching those at the top of the food chain. Convention of States not only has a plan of action, but we also have a grassroots army prepared to fight.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
