The November elections are almost here, and it's time for the American people to take a hard look at what elections can do -- and what they can't.
All Americans should participate in local, state, and national elections. Voting is our birthright as citizens, and it's one of the things our founders fought and died for.
Elections can have an especially large impact on state and local politics. State governments flip from blue to red all the time, and governor's races can change policies throughout the state.
It's important to vote in federal elections as well, but it's also important to understand a difficult truth: it's nearly impossible for constitutionally faithful politicians in D.C. to get anything done. What's more, electing those politicians and increasing their numbers can take years, if not decades.
As we explain in the video below, enacting real reform in Congress via elections is a pipe dream even under the best of circumstances.
There's a better strategy: call an Article V Convention of States.
A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can restore our constitutional protections by limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government. Amendments can also limit the terms of office for federal officials and force Congress to be fiscally responsible.
Let's stop relying on two-faced politicians to enact the change we need in D.C. Let's turn to the people, the states, and a Convention of States.
