Dysfunctional: Justice Department forms an abortion rights task force

Published in Blog on July 13, 2022 by Brianna Kraemer

Biden’s Department of Justice is straying away from its actual job and into political advocacy by creating a new task force that will monitor states' abortion legislation in response to the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade.

The Reproductive Rights Task Force was announced on Tuesday and will help to ensure continued access to abortion services for women across the country. While abortion was never a right in the U.S. Constitution, the department is insistent on protecting women’s right to not protect babies' lives.

“The Court abandoned 50 years of precedent and took away the constitutional right to abortion, preventing women all over the country from being able to make critical decisions about our bodies, our health, and our futures. The Justice Department is committed to protecting access to reproductive services,” said Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta.

The task force will monitor state and local level reproductive legislation and coordinate federal government responses, “including proactive and defensive legal action where appropriate.” The administration would rather women abort their babies than seek other life-saving options. Simultaneously, far-left activists can’t define what a woman is…

Senator Josh Hawley was called transphobic this week during a hearing on abortion rights for saying men cannot get pregnant. A UC Berkley professor asked, “do you believe that men can get pregnant?”

“No I don’t think that men can get pregnant,” Hawley responded.

“So you’re denying that trans people exist,” she asserted.

Senator Elizabeth Warren said crisis pregnancy centers “torture” women.

“Crisis pregnancy centers that are there to fool people who are looking for pregnancy termination help outnumber true abortion clinis by three to one. We need to shut them down here in Massachusetts and we need to shut them down all around the country. You should not be able to torture a pregnant person like that,” Warren said.

Notice Warren’s use of “pregnant person” as opposed to a woman, because it’s supposedly now discriminatory to say only women can get pregnant.

At Convention of States Action, we clearly see the out of control federal government is wasteful and completely dysfunctional. The politicians inside are working against the good of the people and our society.

Further, the abortion debate has been shifted to a state issue, yet the Justice Department is trying to push its swampy opinion onto states.  This is now an individual state choice, similar to the goals of COS to restore power to the states.

We can’t continue toward the destruction of our American culture and economy, which brings us to a solution as big as the problem: an Article V Convention of States.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
