Mark Meckler and other leaders of the COS movement have repeatedly told us that Washington is badly broken and will never take the steps to fix itself. They are telling us the truth.
As Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Senator Rick Scott released a strategy plan for candidates to use as their platform in the 2022 midterm elections.
That plan included a call for Congressional term limits.
Proving that we have a bipartisan problem in Washington DC, Senate Minority Leader MItch McConnell overruled Scott's plan.
That will not be part of the Republican Senate Majority agenda. We will focus instead on what the American people are concerned about: inflation, energy, defense, the border and crime. -Sen. Mitch McConnell
Do you agree with Sen. McConnell that Americans have little interest in imposing term limits on Congress?
Members of Congress have been feeding from the taxpayer trough for too long.
They are in no hurry to give up the perks and privileges of their office, not to mention their ability to make money in the marketplace by exploiting their knowledge of pending legislation.
When the current 117th Congress concludes on 1/3/2023 our 100 Senators will:
- have an average age of 65 years and 9 months (with a median of 66.75 years)
- have served an average of 15 years in the Senate
- have 20 members elected to 4 or more terms
- have 6 members elected to 6 or more terms
- have 18 members older than 75 with 7 of those older than 80, and
- have previously spent an average of 4 years additional service in the House
If there was ever a need to call for an Article V Convention of States, it is now. A Convention of States is an amendments' proposing convention that will propose amendments germane to three topics: impose term limits on federal officials, reduce the federal budget, and reduce the scope and jurisdiction of the federal government.
In the last 3 months, 3 more states have come on board with Convention of States. We now have 18 of the required 34 states to call a Convention of States to stop the runaway train in Washington DC.
Sign our petition to let your state legislators know you want them to call a Convention of States.
