It's going to take structural reforms using Article V of the Constitution to fix Washington's ongoing dysfunction, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently championed at a campaign stop in Concord, New Hampshire.
As an official endorser of Convention of States, DeSantis promoted term limits and a balanced budget requirement, which would thwart politicians from swiping an endless credit card.
"I think you just need some structural change. I don't see how you can keep going the way we do and just hope that we draw an inside straight at an election," he said. "Term limits is popular with every male, female, Republican, Democrat, black, white – it doesn't matter."
Convention of States polling confirms the assertion that every political background approves of term limits on members of Congress. The only problem – politicians will never term-limit themselves. Decade after decade, self-serving Washington bureaucrats use the system to bolster their power and influence. Spending bills are used to shove through ridiculous items because permanent, structural constraints are missing.
"You got to have restraints on these people because they have not done the job for decade after decade."
