DeSantis FIRES BACK at CDC, defends parental rights

Published in Blog on October 24, 2022 by Jakob Fay

Last week, the Center for Disease Control voted to recommend that children six months and older should receive the COVID-19 shot and that the vaccine be added to the Vaccines for Children program.

Although the CDC can not mandate the vaccine for in-person school attendance, some states may use its recommendation as justification for doing so. California, for example, has already required that all students receive the vaccine.

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, however, is standing up for the right of parents to choose whether or not their kids will receive the shot. Florida’s Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, Ph.D., has previously recommended “against males aged 18 to 39 from receiving mRNA COVID-19 vaccines” after research revealed an “84% increase in the relative incidence of cardiac-related death among males 18-39 years old within 28 days following mRNA vaccination.”

“There’s been a lot of questions to our office about the CDC potentially adding COVID vaccine to the childhood immunization schedule,” the governor explained. “And I know a lot of parents are concerned about that because if that’s on the immunization schedule, the fear is that schools could potentially mandate your child to get a COVID shot, even if that’s not something that you want to do. So I just want to let everyone be clear, as long as I’m around, and as long as I’m kicking and screaming, there will be no COVID shot mandates for your kids. “That is your decision. That is your decision to make as a parent.”

“These are new shots, “ he added. “I get a kick out of it when people kind of compare it to MMR [Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Vaccine] and stuff, things that have been around for decades and decades. So parents, by and large, most parents in Florida have opted against doing these booster shots for … the young kids. The Surgeon General of Florida does not recommend this for young kids, for kids under 18. And basically, his reason for that [is] there’s not really been a proven benefit for that … but it’s a free state, parents can make the other decision if that’s what they want. The important thing is … that school districts are not mandating this choice.”

Far too many “leaders” in American politics fail to understand what Ron DeSantis is fighting for: the right of the American people to be self-governing and the right of parents to decide what is best for their kids. Both of these fundamental rights are under attack in America today, especially by the corrupt federal establishment in Washington, D.C. It’s time for the states to fight back and call a Convention of States to bring power back to We the People.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
