CRT and masks: How the Department of Education controls your kid's school

Published in Blog on August 12, 2021 by Dr. Dale Walker

Kids are headed back to school in the next few weeks, and parents across the country are worried.

Between Marxist Critical Race Theory and the threat of mask mandates, many American children are about to face an onslaught of ideas and dictates neither they nor their parents agree with. And while parents are pushing back against these tyrannies, many are worried that President Joe Biden's Department of Education is about to step in.

As Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler explained recently, the Department of Education has loads of money it can use to bribe or threaten schools to get in line. Just as President Obama tried to force schools to adopt his transgender ideology via the DOE, so too can Joe Biden force CRT, mask mandates, and vaccine mandates on schools across the nation.

Of course, he has virtually zero constitutional authority to do so. According to Article 1, Section 8 and the 10th Amendment to the Constitution, there are only supposed to be seven government services provided to all the states. Those seven government services cannot be expanded according to the language in the 10th Amendment since any services beyond the seven are controlled by the states.

However, thanks to bad SCOTUS decisions that reinterpreted the Constitution to expand federal power, Washington can now use their awesome wealth to throw their weight around. Check out how much money the DOE sends to the states every year:

  • 2021   $42,090,000,000 or 53% of the total DOE budget
  • 2022   $40,643,000,000 or 60% of the total DOE budget
  • 2023   $39,226,000,000 or 59% of the total DOE budget
  • 2024   $38,548,000,000 or 59% of the total DOE budget
  • 2025   $38,461,000,000 or 57% of the total DOE budget

And what are Americans getting for all that money? Have our kids exceeded the educational standards of other countries? Are our children getting a solid education in history, science, and math? Or are they being indoctrinated in big-government ideologies and lied to about our country's founding?

If the millions of worried parents are any indication, the answers to those questions are obvious.

We must step in and do something before it's too late. As parents have shown, they have the power to influence and take over their local school boards. If we can keep control at the state level and remove the threat of federal involvement, we can begin the work of reforming our educational system from the grassroots up.

That's where a Convention of States comes in. An Article V Convention of States has the power to propose constitutional amendments that eliminate many federal agencies, including the Department of Education. How? By restricting federal jurisdiction to those topics expressly mentioned in the Constitution.

The federal government has expanded its control over our country's schools via bad Supreme Court decisions. A Convention of States can propose amendments reversing those decisions, limiting federal power and spending, and putting control back where it belongs: with We the People.

Over five million Americans have joined the movement, and 15 states are on board. To join the team in your state, sign the petition below!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
