Joe Rancourt of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, is so alarmed with the national debt that he signed the petition and became a volunteer with Convention of States Virginia.
He relates that his daughter, an economics major, showed him the US National Debt Clock in real time.
She cried, "Dad, what is this?"
All Rancourt could say was, "It's our generation's gift to you. It's hardly a gift...In the last twenty minutes this number has gone up over fifty million."
Rancourt explains, "It's craziness. We can't keep putting our heads in the sand and ignoring it. When good people do nothing, bad things happen."
