Mark Bonkiewicz isn't afraid to tell it like it is.
The Convention of States volunteer recently testified in front of a Nebraska legislative committee to explain why he supports the Article V effort--and he didn't hold back his views on Congress' recent "COVID relief" bill.
"I'm concerned about the federal government overreach that's just out of control," he said, "most recently proven by the congressional budgets that were sold to citizens to ease the 'financial pain' of the citizens afflicted by COVID-19, but instead spent billions of dollars overseas or paid off state debts."
"It had nothing to do with COVID."
Mark is absolutely right, of course. Congress spends taxpayer money irresponsibly, and now they aren't even spending our money -- they're spending our children's and grandchildren's money.
It's time to force Congress to be fiscally responsible. They'll never do so on their own, which is why patriots like Mark have joined the Convention of States movement.
A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that get the national budget under control. These amendments can limit spending, cap taxation, and force the feds to balance the budget.
Most importantly, these amendments can prohibit Congress from spending money on topics not expressly mentioned in the Constitution. Those topics will then revert totally to state control, where We the People can have a real influence on how our money is spent.
