COS President Mark Meckler interviewed on Charlottesville Radio

Published in Blog on September 01, 2022 by Laurie Wheeler

"Best in the nation" Joe Thomas recently interviewed COS President Mark Meckler on Charlottesville Radio.

Click this link to hear their discussion about Virginia's General Assembly position regarding Convention of States.

Meckler stated:

There are a few folks on the Right who are against us and they issue the exact same talking points as the Left. I hate to say it but you have a senator, Senator Amanda Chase, who is probably the only big opponent in the Senate, there. She has frankly been dishonest with us about her position. And she uses the same talking points as Planned Parenthood, La Raza, and Moveon.org.

Radio host Joe Thomas proclaimed: I warn anyone who is going to run for the General Assembly in 2023, you will be asked by me where you stand on the Convention of States... Where are we right now, Mark?

Meckler replied:

It takes 34 states to call a Convention, so far 19 states have done it. One of the things I have to say reflecting on what you're talking about the Virginia General Assembly...people are losing their offices because they are not supporting Convention of States.

Thomas declared: I'm going to continue to do everything I can to make the case here in Virginia.

Are you doing everything you can to make Convention of States a reality in Virginia?

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
