Youth will be served in the second Trump administration --- particularly at the podium of the White House briefing room.
Convention of States petition signer and endorser Karoline Leavitt, 27, has been selected by President-elect Donald Trump as White House Press Secretary. She will be the youngest person in U.S. history to serve in that position, eclipsing the mark set by Ron Ziegler, who was 29 when he became press secretary in the Nixon administration.
Leavitt endorsed COS during her 2022 candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives. She is the first member of Gen Z to have been nominated for Congress and said of the movement to call an Article V convention to curb the power of the federal government:
“Convention of States aligns with the principles that I believe, a government for the people by the people.”
Leavitt, a graduate of St. Anselm College in her home state of New Hampshire, interned for Fox News and in the press office of the first Trump administration during college days. She was hired as a speechwriter by the administration upon her graduation and later became assistant press secretary to Kayleigh McEnany.
In 2022, Leavitt left the White House and won the New Hampshire GOP's nomination for the U.S. House in the Granite State's first congressional district.
Her media savvy is not limited to campaigns and the White House, as she has guest-hosted for New England radio king Howie Carr's executive producer, Grace Curley, who also has a show on WRKO in Boston.
Although he is an energetic and vigorous 78 years old, it would be a stretch for President-elect Trump to claim in his inaugural address, as John F. Kennedy did, "that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans".
But Trump has reignited the torch and holds it aloft with several young Americans who back the movement to call an Article V convention. Leavitt's appointment as press secretary demonstrates that not only will young Americans who support COS have a voice in government, theirs will be the voice of this youthful administration.
COS supporter and Vice President-elect JD Vance is 40. Vivek Ramaswamy, a COS endorser who will run the new Department of Government Efficiency with Elon Musk, is 39. Secretary of Defense nominee and COS endorser Pete Hegseth is 44. Attorney general nominee and COS supporter Matt Gaetz is 42.
The young guns assembling in the new administration represent millions of activists who are youthful in age and attitude, all of whom have the vibrant spirit of self-governance that is heading to Washington in January.
They -- like you -- are not beholden to the Potomac status quo. They bring a new perspective that is rooted in the oldest and best traditions of limited representative government to which Leavitt referred in her COS endorsement statement.
Young activists, now is the time to stand with Karoline Leavitt and her colleagues in the administration who support our cause by signing the COS petition!
Actively engage in the quest to call an Article V convention and effect the necessary structural change that needs to occur if our republic is to truly return to its founding principles.
Be on the cutting edge as we embark on meaningful course correction and a brighter America. Sign the COS petition:
