President Biden hasn't even tried to hide his authoritarian streak during his first weeks in office. He's issued more than twice as many executive orders and memoranda during his first 16 days in office (36) than President Trump and Obama (17), and 18 times more than President W. Bush (2).
But the states have started to mobilize, and South Carolina is leading the charge. Patriotic state legislators like longtime Convention of States supporter Rep. Bill Taylor have compiled a list of policies and legislation aimed at hampering Biden's authoritarianism.
The Convention of States Resolution is an important part of that "pushback agenda," according to South Carolina's FITS News.
Also included in the “pushback agenda” is H. 3205 – an updated version of the Convention of States bill that made significant progress in the legislature a year ago.
Like last year’s proposed “COS” legislation, this bill would make an application to the U.S. Congress on behalf of the S.C. General Assembly to “call an amendment convention of the states pursuant to Article V” of the U.S. Constitution.
This convention would be “limited to proposing amendments to the United States Constitution that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress.”
According to Taylor, the Convention of States bill “is the lawful path to rein-in the federal government,” or “the needed rebellion without bullets.”
South Carolina isn't alone. Dozens of states are considering the Convention of States Resolution as a way to push back against overreach from Washington.
These campaigns are powered by people like you -- patriotic Americans worried about an all-powerful White House dictating policy for states from coast to coast.
