A vision of a federal government under the restraint of the Convention of States Resolution reshapes our commitments to our day-to-day lives.
Reacting to the present events of our current federal government, with all of its overreach, creates patterns of emotional instability similar to addiction behavior. The citizens of the United States continually witness extraordinary overreach from federal institutions and then we feel suffocated and vulnerable.
Imagine a nation with a balanced budget amendment, a term limits amendment and a limited federal jurisdiction amendment.
Imagine a federal political class that can only be in office for a decade or so before they must pack up and try their talents in more local government roles, or compete in the free market like the rest of us.
Imagine a nation where governing locally is considered more critical to the general public than national roles.
Imagine a nation where citizens are far more in focus with the names of their local legislators and the news in their communities than with the celebrity-like status of national positions.
Imagine simple amendments that provide unquestionable clarity to our three Convention of States objectives, so much so that they refuse to fail under re-interpretation of an activist Supreme Court of any generation.
Imagine a Congress that might bully and shame the electorate in the media for flair and show, but when it’s time to pass bills, are sobered with a spending limit and a federal authority with clear boundaries.
There are so many more days in a year to live out a grassroots lifestyle that will carve out the future we want for our nation in comparison to the single days we vote for national figures. We must focus on the local.
Through an Article V Convention of States, the People have power and authority over the federal government.
The American people are in a never-ending trance. Staring at the spinning spiral called “the next election”, we fail to look away. Instead we feel powerless, argue with neighbors and family, analyze the latest federal government scandal, shame each other on social media for having opinions... it never ends. That’s the point.
What our petition signers and volunteers are doing for the future of governance in the U.S. is vital. Your efforts at Convention of States Action matter to all of us now and also to the people that will live out their youth in the middle of this century.
If you haven’t heard it lately, thank you, for all you do at Convention of States Action. If you want to get more closely involved, volunteer here.
