Convention of States!

Convention of States is our last best hope in constraining unworthy politicians, Chris Salcedo

Published in Blog on May 30, 2023 by Brianna Kraemer

Convention of States could be the final straw in saving America, Newsmax host Chris Salcedo promoted on his show.

Inspired by our fallen heroes, Salcedo said he hopes that the people rise up and drive the corrupt, cancerous influence from our politics and our lives, adding that the majority of government proves unworthy of the fallens' sacrifices.

But how can we effectively do that? All in Article V of the U.S. Constitution.

Addressing public officials directly, Salcedo said, "All we see from you are laws to constrain and control and restrain We the People. When can we expect you to pass some laws restricting government in the same ways?"

Offering a serious solution, Salcedo told his audience that it's time for the people to 'relieve' politicians of their unmanageable 'burden' by calling for an Article V convention.

"Perhaps a Convention of States is our last best hope to create a government that is worthy of those who gave the last full measure of devotion to the United States, so we can all remain free."

Salcedo's monologue didn't just focus on politicians using, abusing, and exploiting the people to enrich and empower themselves but it also provided a current example as it pertains to the debt limit debacle.

About 60% of voters want spending restraints inside the federal government, according to a recent COSA poll. Yet even with the majority agreement, Republicans and Democrats reached a deal over the Memorial Day weekend that increases spending year over year.

"So we went from a spending reduction to a spending increase all to fund the government lawlessness," Salcedo said. "Let's be honest, only We the People – not our government – care about irresponsible spending that threatens the existence of this country."

Day by day, our unworthy government restrains us more while resisting any calls for government constraints. As Salcedo mentioned, the only true way to divert the unhinged federal government back on track is through Article V and the 50 states.

Convention of States offers an opportunity for the people to have a voice once again. Term limits and balanced budget requirements can be forced onto Capitol Hill, and America's future can prosper. This option requires grassroots support, which is why we need every supporter to sign the COS petition below so that your representatives know you are for this constitutional solution.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here:

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have: or (540) 441-7227.

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
