It's no secret that we love and revere the Constitution around here and know that Article V contains the solution to halting our runaway federal government.
So it should come as no surprise that merely celebrating Constitution Day on September 17 is not enough. We are celebrating the entire week!
Appropriately enough, Constitution Week kicks off on September 15, which might just be our happiest day of the year -- Article V Day.
It was of course on September 15, 1787, that the patron saint of COS -- Col. George Mason -- provided his invaluable input during discussion about the process for amending what would become the Constitution.
The Mason-inspired motion made to the delegates that Article V include a requirement that a convention on application of two-thirds of the states was adopted "nem: con." -- the Latin abbreviation for no one contradicting.
It would be difficult for anyone to contradict the notion that we have created a beautiful and fun interactive website for you, our wonderful grassroots army, to utilize throughout Constitution Week so that you can celebrate fully:
- On September 16, review the Article V simulation that took place in 2016.
- Take our Constitution Challenge and commit to reading the entire document by Constitution Day, September 17. You can download a digital copy of the Constitution on the website.
- Watch the inaugural Grassroots Article V Experience simulated convention from the campus of Patriot Academy on September 21.
- Grab our fun and educational Activity Book for the young constitutional scholars in your family and follow our loveable characters Liberty Llama and Danny Goat on a trip to Philadelphia.
Be sure to keep an eye on COS social sites for quizzes, video reels, and engaging poll questions.
Let's make this a memorable week of commemoration and celebration as together we reaffirm our commitment to the Constitution as a whole, and the particular republic-saving article therein.
Visit our Constitution Week website often and take advantage of all the fun!
