Complicating the Constitution

Published in Uncategorized on September 15, 2021 by Dakota Windancer

In the pamphlet "Common Sense," author Thomas Paine makes the important distinction between society and government.

"Society is produced by our wants, and government by wickedness; the former promotes our happiness positively by uniting our affections, the latter negatively by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher."

I would like to share a perspective formulated by observation and historical fact, then invite you to simmer in some questions I raise.

It is no secret that our Constitution is under attack. Judgments are being raised that it was composed by racists and is arcane in today's political climate and rendered obsolete.

Attacking the Constitution, making it to seem exceedingly complex, keeps the solution of societal ills at bay without being able to discover in which part the fault lies, some say in one and some in another, and every political physician advising different medicine. Do we see that today?

Repeating specious content through media marketing, and through the voice of opposition to our beloved Constitution allows time to make more converts than reason. Are we seeing that today?

The question must be asked, "When Constitutional principles are being weaponized against the very people it was written to protect, whose interest is being served? Isn't that federal overreach?

When the general welfare clause is attempting to be re-framed making ordinary citizens into domestic terrorists for not ascribing to vaccine passports or embracing the ideology of current administration, again it must be asked, who is that serving? How does that political perspective uphold life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Is this a component of federal overreach?

The three choices we face making are: The legal voice of We the People through the Convention of States, by military power, or by a mob.

It seems to me that the Convention of States is the best choice of three ways to remain a sovereign nation.

Is it federal overreach when elected officials put the Constitution on trial, rather than upholding it? Do they not take an oath and swear to uphold and defend the Constitution?

Could attacking the Constitution be a clever guise for averting from a lack of personal integrity and virtue?

Might it be true that the simpler we make government, the less liable it is to be disordered? Wouldn't it be easier to repair when it became disordered?

Is it any wonder that people more than ever are flocking to the Sunshine state? We are fortunate in having a Governor who upholds freedom of choice, while local confederations and school boards enabled by federal government, work to take that freedom from us by weaponizing fear and party agendas.

I have shared the thoughts of my concern and a perspective on how the usurpation of our Constitution continues and will most likely broaden.
