On February 3rd, at the Independence Institute in Denver, over 60 volunteers for Convention of States attended Colorado's first Grassroots Workshop and Training.
As a result, the volunteer team more than doubled in size in a single day.
State Director Chris LaCount of Parker led a presentation that included an overview of the role of a District Captain, the backbone of the COS organization.
Volunteers were treated to a Skype session with Convention of States Project co-Founder Mark Meckler, who conveyed words of encouragement and stories of inspiration from American history.
Later, State Senator Kevin Lundberg, stopped by to offer more encouragement and legislative advocacy advice.
Among the volunteers, a man from Denver stumbled into the workshop from a Toastmasters event next door. Sold on the mission, he signed up to volunteer as a Regional Captain.
In a Facebook post following the event, Lundberg wrote, "I just spoke at a workshop for Convention of the States, an Article V effort that I strongly endorse. It was incredible to see that many citizens ready to roll up their sleeves and do the good work of putting the states and people back in charge of their Constitutionally defined jurisdictions."
