Congressman and Convention of States endorser Chip Roy blasted a controversial new proposal for including women in the draft, urging the states to call an Article V convention to deal with Washington’s overreach.
On a recent episode of The Daily Wire podcast, The Morning Wire, the Texas representative pointed out that the Pentagon “can’t even . . . acknowledge the difference between a man and a woman.”
“So, what you’ve got going on at the Pentagon is an affirmative effort . . . to force the DEI stuff, not just on the people who enlist, but on to Americans,” Roy said. “Why would I entrust them with my daughter?”
While the measure currently pends approval in the Senate, Roy vowed to “put every single ounce of my energy into ensuring that we stop it” if it reaches the House.
Additionally, he piled abuse on Congress for failing to secure election integrity or end deficit spending, emphasizing that the Convention of States movement may be necessary to restrain the federal government.
“It’s extraordinary, and it’s, frankly, out of control. I’m not saying that hyperbolically—I mean, literally, it is out of control,” he warned. “But, in order to change it . . . you have to force it; the American people will have to force it, either through something like an Article V convention of the states, or you’re going to have to force your member of Congress . . . [to] stop spending money we don’t have.”
As Chip Roy declared in his official COS endorsement statement, “The COS Project is marching ahead getting states to call for conventions to establish term limits, balance the budget, and limit the power of Washington. We cannot continue to print trillions of dollars to fund bureaucrats who trample self-government and individual sovereignty. . . . The most effective strategy for meaningful political change lies with the grassroots. I support the work of COS Action and its broad coalition of volunteers and leaders across the nation. The path to saving America is not coming from Washington but from the people.”
