Convention of States endorser Chip Roy will be voting "No" on the House floor tonight, rebuking the debt limit deal made over the weekend between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Biden.
The deal cuts spending by $1.5 trillion only until 2025, which is still higher than before the pandemic. It allows business to go on as usual in the nation's capital with no long-term changes.
"Not one Republican should vote for this deal. It is a bad deal. No one sent us here to borrow an additional 4 trillion dollars to get absolutely nothing in return," said Texas Rep. Chip Roy outside the Capitol on Tuesday. "There will be a reckoning about what just occurred unless we stop this bill."
During an interview with Glenn Beck, Roy said he said it was a "complete and total sellout" of everything Republicans accomplished in January during the speaker battle.
Many Republicans are vocally opposed to the deal and it's unclear if there will be enough votes to pass. However, McCarthy could still obtain enough support if Democrats back the deal.

No matter what happens, the one thing that's almost certain is that America's national debt will continue to rise, not fall.
The only way to ever see our national debt decrease permanently is to call for an Article V convention where the people can impose balanced budget rules on Congress.
As a COS endorser, Rep. Roy has said, "The path to saving America is not coming from Washington but from the people." The people make up the Convention of States grassroots movement, and we are united in halting D.C.'s political norms.
