CHEEE HOOO...Team Hawaii Makes History!

Published in Spread the Word Blog on March 21, 2024 by Brett Kulbis

On Wednesday, March 20, the impossible happened!  The Hawaii Senate Committee on Public Safety, Intergovernmental and Military Affairs (PSM) Committee, held a hearing on COS Resolutions SCR-196 & SR-168, passing SCR 196 with a unanimous vote!

Sixteen COS Hawaii leaders, volunteers and supporters, led by State Director Mark White, showed up in conference room 225 to provide testimony and support. We were even blessed to have COS President Mark Meckler join in via zoom.

Since the announcement of the hearing last week the team drafted and practiced their testimonies in preparation all weekend, and even had a practice on Monday.

Each of our testifiers gave their passionate and excellent testimony which impacted the committee members so much our resolution passed with 4 'yes' votes...CHEE HOO!!

While this is a BIG VICTORY for Team Hawaii and well deserved for all our hard work, State Director Mark White explains this committee win didn’t just happen without a lot of work done by many COS volunteers and patriots.

"We’ve been working toward this tremendous milestone for 9 years. Thanks go first to our COS Hawaii volunteers that came to the Capital on Opening day, then visited legislators' offices weekly for 6 weeks afterward.”

The Hawaii team leader also mentioned the outside support provided to their members.

“Once our resolutions were filed, our team shifted to testimony preparation and rehearsal while at the same time Western Region volunteers helped with CivicClick emails and Tele Patriot campaigns to really put grassroots pressure on committee members who were uncommitted to voting ‘yes' for COS."

There is still more hard work to be done. Now, SCR-196 will pass to its next committee: "Judiciary."  We'll be honest, this will be a much tougher committee to pass, and we'll need all hands on deck to be successful!
