Charlottesville Radio Host Joe Thomas promotes Convention of States at CPAC

Published in Blog on March 28, 2024 by Laurie Wheeler

The recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held at the Gaylord from Feb 21-24, 2024 exhibited the continued formidable presence of Charlottesville radio host Joe Thomas.

Relentlessly, day in and day out, Joe Thomas shares that Convention of States is the solution as big as the problem in Washington DC, located only a few miles from the Gaylord.

Every photo in the collage below has a common element: a sign promoting Convention of States.

Free Media Exposure for COS

Imagine the scene. People are walking by. What activity is going on here? A live radio show? Ooo, who's talking? Wait, I know that politico!

Meanwhile pictures are being taken of that interview by the passers-by and shot through social media: look who I saw. That COS sign is in all those photos going out through the social media of the passers-by.

Not only that, but for Joe Thomas, someone is shooting pictures to put out on Joe's social media which allows that COS sign to explode on their social media, as it did mine since I follow Joe.

For days, nearly every time I picked up my phone, there was another photo of that COS sign hovering over yet another great interview.

Each time followers reacted and commented about the interview, the COS sign was pushed further through social media.

That's the outreach influence Joe Thomas knew would happen for COS. That is free advertising for COS! Thanks, Joe!

Impact on State Legislators

State legislators are uniquely and purposefully empowered by Article V of the Constitution to rein in Washington DC.

The COS resolution has not yet been passed in Virginia.

Even though Joe Thomas previously has talked to the legislators about COS, the sign is a pointed reminder that he continues to call them to take action on DC.

Virginia state legislators that Thomas interviewed at CPAC under the COS signage were Delegate Frietas, Delegate Peake, and Senator McGuire.

Thomas also interviewed political personalities who are running for office, and many with a national presence who have a large outreach. Thomas also interviewed everyday citizens, like the infamous Coach Joe Kennedy.

In fact, Joe Thomas has been in the trenches with Convention of States for years.

Knowing the impact he can make to steer the course of America back to its Constitutional foundation, Thomas regularly and freely discusses Convention of States on his radio show.

Often Thomas interviews national figures from Convention of States, like National Legislative Strategist Rita Peters (from Virginia), and President Mark Meckler (who calls Virginia his second home due to frequent visits to extended family).

In fact a couple of years ago Meckler appeared on the show for an interview, only to surprise Thomas with the Benjamin Franklin Award for Journalistic Excellence.

Having fully earned that reward, Thomas did not merely sit back for having attained. He only presses further on. There is a republic to save.

Joe Thomas keeps raising the bar with new ideas to promote Convention of States.

For example a couple of years ago Thomas coordinated with local Convention of States Virginia volunteer Nancy Koenig who helped him create soundbites of COS factoids to use as PSAs on his radio show.

On COS Virginia's 2024 Rally Day in Richmond, Thomas interviewed our headline speaker, National Advisor to Convention of States, Rick Santorum.

Be a Joe Thomas

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
