Biden scrambling to blame private businesses for gas prices, product shortages

Published in Blog on October 13, 2021 by Article V Patriot

The Biden administration is in trouble.

Gas prices are at a seven-year high. Inflation rates are rivaling the 1970's, and there's a massive backlog of goods that may extend to Christmas.

These problems can be traced directly back to federal policies -- from encouraging continued COVID lockdowns, to promising more "free" money, to overregulating American businesses, President Joe Biden is the primary cause of our current troubles.

But instead of changing these policies to free our economy and get our country back on track, the president is blaming private businesses for their supposed lack of initiative.

Reuters reported this week that the Biden administration went to oil and gas companies to harangue them about lowering their prices. Did the president offer to de-regulate these businesses or stop vilifying oil companies as climate-change causers?

Nope. Instead, he doubled-down on the policies that have led directly to the shortages. As one oil executive told Reuters, "By pursuing policies that restrict supply and make it harder to produce oil and natural gas here in America, Americans will have to pay more for their energy."

The president also had the temerity to suggest that the current product shortages are somehow the fault of big companies like Walmart. He asked them to "step up" and fix the problems he caused:

“If the private sector doesn’t step up, we’re going to call them out and ask them to act,” Biden said. “I want to be clear, this is an across-the-board commitment to going to 24/7. This is a big first step in speeding up the movement of materials and goods through our supply chain but now we need the rest of the private sector chain to step up as well.”

“All of these goods won’t move by themselves,” Biden continued. “For the positive impact to be felt all across the country and by all of you at home, we need major retailers who ordered the goods and the freight movers who take the goods from the ships to factories and to stores to step up as well.”

President Biden could do one thing to help solve these problems: get out of the way.

Stop trying to force businesses to mandate the COVID vaccine. Stop attacking corporations as "greedy," and stop imposing regulations that make it more difficult for companies to hire workers. Stop paying people to stay at home. Stop trying to control Americans' economic decisions, and just get out of the way!

The president believes he can control the economy, but that power isn't found anywhere in the Constitution. The states and the people should be the primary drivers of domestic policy.

If you're tired of an all-powerful president ruining our country, you've come to the right place.

An Article V Convention of States is the only movement with the solution that can limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. Article V allows the states to call a Convention of States to propose constitutional amendments that can limit federal power, spending, and terms of office.

With these amendments in place, the president -- whether Democrat or Republican -- will no longer have the authority to control what Americans do, say, and buy. The power will once again be vested in the people and the states, and we'll be in control of our country's future.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
