Here's something all Americans should agree on: the federal government shouldn't be in the businesses of choosing winners and losers based on race.
But as Betsy McCaughey explains for the New York Post, that's exactly what Biden's new infrastructure bill does:
Americans are enthusiastic about spending money on physical infrastructure — bridges, roads, broadband. But this racist bill hands out jobs and contracts and locates projects based on race, not merit. Minority businesses and neighborhoods hold the inside track. If you’re white, you’re low-priority.
The bill includes grants to install solar or wind technologies and generate jobs in areas decimated by closing coal mines or coal-fired electric plants. Here’s the catch: When contractors bid, the bill says minority-owned businesses will get selected first. Bad news for small-time white contractors in depressed areas.
The same is true for the bill’s proposals to improve traffic patterns in cities. Contractors and subcontractors get priority only if they’re owned by minorities or women. White male business owners can take a hike.
This is the worst possible kind of federal overreach. Not only does it insert federal bureaucrats into the private sector, but it does so with the expressed purpose of favoring some racial groups over others.
Racism has no place in America, and it certainly has no place in the highest levels of government. We must fight racist ideology at every turn, but we must also ensure that Washington doesn't have the power to force its racist agenda down the throats of the people and the states.
That's why we must call an Article V Convention of States NOW -- before it's too late.
A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints on Congress, and mandate term limits for federal officials.
With this complete package of government-limiting amendments in place, Washington will have far less power and money to impose its will on the rest of the country. It agencies will be scaled back or eliminated, its jurisdiction restricted to a narrow set of topics, and its leaders forced to return to the real world after a short time of service.
