Bernie Sanders: "You’re looking at the chairman of the Subcommittee on Health!"

Published in Blog on October 06, 2020 by Article V Patriot

Senator Bernie Sanders is ready to make socialist healthcare a reality -- and he believes that goal is within reach.

Speaking to a crowd of Democrats, he assured his supporters that he'll be picked to lead a powerful Senate committee on health if the Dems can win the Senate.

“If the Democrats gain control of the Senate, you’re looking at the chairman of the Subcommittee on Health,” he said to cheers, according to The Daily Signal.

We don't need to tell you how disastrous Medicare-for-All would be for our country. If the same government that's in charge of the VA were in charge of healthcare for all Americans, it's easy to imagine the result.

Higher taxes, worse care, and longer wait times would all be in our future. But the worst part would be the loss of self-governance. Rather than be empowered to make their own healthcare decisions, Americans would be forced to follow the government's agenda -- or go without healthcare altogether.

This upcoming election is important, but what if there was a solution that kept us from worrying about a massive socialist takeover every two and four years? What if we had a way to build an impenetrable firewall against socialist policies like Medicare-for-All?

Well, there is. An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can forever prohibit socialist policies by limiting the power of the federal government, shrinking federal jurisdiction, and ending many federal bureaucracies.

If, for example, a Convention of States passed (and the states ratified) an amendments clarifying the General Welfare clause, the federal government would only be allowed to legislate on the narrow set of topics expressly mentioned in the Constitution. All other areas -- including healthcare -- would be left up to the states.

One man in Washington shouldn't have the power to dictate healthcare for the entire country. Those decisions should be made by American families, and a Convention of States gives them the right to reassert their self-governance and eliminate the threat of socialism for future generations.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
