A new poll by the left-leaning outlet NBC News reveals 71% of voters believe our nation is headed down the wrong path. Additionally, a Gallup poll also released Monday shows the number one concern among voters is the U.S. government.
The government is the biggest problem in the nation, more than other issues such as inflation and the border, the Gallup poll shows. Dismay toward government leadership has grown six percent since November, while economic concerns have shrunk.
Just a day before these polls came out showing a huge level of public dissatisfaction, Biden expressed high positivity for the country's future on Twitter. The pressing question is, does the president truly not understand the state of the country he oversees?
Even though Biden has "never been more optimistic about America,” Twitter users were quick to alert him of the nation's current standing rendered under Biden's leadership.
One Twitter user responded, "The entire family is a group of criminals. "My word as a Biden.""
"The border is open, real wages are down, energy costs are outrageously high, the Taliban controls Afghanistan, & the cartels are making billions smuggling fentanyl. There is reason to be “optimistic” though - we have a @HouseGOP majority who is working to hold Biden accountable," an RNC official commented.
With the possibility for accountability in the House, it's doubtful effective changes will be implemented in Washington through a temporary transition in party control – in only one chamber. The 118th Congress is launching investigations to attempt to reroute America's course, but in just two years, the actors on the metaphorical stage will shift again. We know the Swamp will never change itself, which is why Convention of States Action is working to return America to a self-governing nation by limiting federal power.
About 69% of poll respondents described America's trajectory with negative words and phrases, compared to two years ago before Biden's inauguration when 52% had negative words and phrases.
"We have never before seen this level of sustained pessimism in the 30-year-plus history of the poll," NBC disclosed. "Partisan divides persist over whether the country is headed in the right direction, but Americans are broadly pessimistic."
Biden's State of the Union address is just weeks away, which will certainly dance around this unified discontent. The growing level of discontentment is fixable; we can reroute course through a Convention of States.
