Convention of States Massachusetts is thrilled to announce that state representative and minority leader Bradley Jones (R - 20th Middlesex) is co-sponsoring "resolutions calling on Article V of the U.S. Constitution for the convening of a convention of the states," including HD 215 on the House side of the Massachusetts General Court.
Rep. Jones joins Rep. Bradford Hill (R - 4th Essex) as a co-sponsor. The Convention of States resolution has also been introduced in the Massachusetts Senate, numbered SD 206.
Please take a few minutes to increase the momentum in Massachusetts for an Article V convention to rein in federal overreach by calling or writing your state representative and senator to urge support, respectively, for HD 215 and SD 206.

Article V of the Constitution provides the mechanisms for proposing amendments. Founding Father George Mason insisted that Article V include a clause by which the people, acting through their state legislatures and representatives such as Hill and Jones, could bypass Congress to call a convention of states to propose amendments when they believed it necessary.
As James Madison wrote in his Notes of Debates in the Federal Convention of 1787, Mason thought that, to amend or propose amendments, "It would be improper to require the consent of the Natl Legislature, because they may abuse their power, and refuse their consent on that very account."
Congress and the federal government have long abused their power. Seldom a day passes when elected representatives and unelected bureaucrats acts in an unconstitutional or extra-constitutional manner.
COS and a growing number of state legislators find it necessary to call a convention for the limited purpose of proposing amendments such as congressional term limits and spending limits to blunt such abuse and re-establish the sovereignty of the people.
Take action to support Convention of States and the noble efforts of Representatives Jones and Hill.
Fifteen states have already passed the Convention of States resolution. Let's work to add Massachusetts to that roll of honor.
