Article V master class with Michael Farris

Published in Blog on March 10, 2024 by Matt May

Daylight Savings may still be leaving you a bit sluggish today, but you will be wide awake this Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. ET for the live premiere of "The Case for Convention of States" with constitutional attorney and Convention of States Action co-founder Michael Farris.

This video event will feature Dr. Farris's testimony in favor of the Article V resolution before the Ohio House Government Oversight Committee in early February.

The one-hour stream highlights his opening statement to the committee, in addition to his answers to intricate, and even hostile questioning by members of the committee regarding how Article V came to be included in the Constitution, why an Article V convention is needed now.

Dr. Farris – and the Ohio COS team – answered skepticism and debunked common myths about an Article V convention. Chief among those myths is the persistent idea spread by opponents that a gathering to propose amendments to the Constitution will devolve into a "runaway convention" that will destroy the Constitution.

To whet your appetite, check out this clip.

This presentation neatly encapsulates the message that Dr. Farris, leadership, and grassroots have been conveying to legislatures across the country about an Article V convention, and we are excited to bring this engaging performance to you.

“The Case for Convention of States'' premieres Wednesday, March 13, at 8:00 p.m. ET and will feature a dynamic introduction delivered by COSA co-founder and president Mark Meckler.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
