Are Cori Bush and AOC the biggest hypocrites in D.C?

Published in Blog on August 06, 2021 by Article V Patriot

Masks for thee but not for me!

Safety for me but not for thee!

Rules for thee but not for me!

This could be the mantra of many of our nation's "leaders" over the last 18 months. We've watched as politician after politician has been caught breaking their own COVID-19 rules and flaunting their special privileges. Whether it's California Governor Gavin Newsom at the French Laundry or Sen. Dianne Feinstein disregarding mask rules in the D.C. airport, these men and women clearly believe that they're above their own rules.

Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Cori Bush could be among the worst offenders. In videos published within 48 hours of each other, these D.C. "elites" showed just how hypocritical they really are.

First, AOC was caught near the Capitol putting on a mask for a photo op and then immediately taking it off.

As of August 6, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez hadn't responded to the viral video.

Then, two days later, fellow Squad member Rep. Cori Bush expressed the exact same hypocritical attitude. When asked why she spent tens of thousands of dollars on security while also calling to defund the police, Rep. Bush doubled-down on her security spending and said to the American people, "Suck it up... and defunding the police has to happen."

To review: AOC wants to push her mask agenda in public while shirking her own rules in private while Cori Bush wants to protect herself with private security while leaving at-risk communities to suffer at the hands of criminals.

Unfortunately, this elitist, hypocritical mindset is endemic among our nation's federal officials. They think they're better than us, and they believe they can impose rules on We the People that they don't have to follow.

Even worse, they believe their lives are more important than ours. They spend thousands of taxpayer dollars every year on private security while working to confiscate our firearms and defund the brave men and women of our police departments.

Enough is enough. Our members of Congress work for us. They exist to serve us, and when they're no longer doing their job, it's time for them to go.

We can and should vote for political candidates who we believe will adhere to the will of their constituents. But we can't stop there. Our national leaders need to be taken down a notch, and that's exactly what we can do with an Article V Convention of States.

A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power under Article V to propose constitutional amendments. Under the call proposed by the Convention of States Project (and so far passed in 15 states), states could call for amendments that limit federal power, limit federal spending, and impose term limits on federal officials.

These amendments could include provisions that force Congresspeople to follow the laws they pass. Amendments could be proposed that protect Second Amendment rights and that limit how long a politician can spend in D.C. Other amendments are on the table as well, such as those that shrink the size of the deep state and force Congress to balance the budget.

It's time for real reform in Washington. Our elected politicians won't get the job done, which is why the people and the states need to come together and call the first-ever Convention of States.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
