Democratic congresswoman and avowed socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told the media this week that she thinks it's "likely" that former Vice President and current Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden can be pushed "in a more progressive direction."
Speaking with Just The News, Ocasio-Cortez said she agreed with Sen. Bernie Sanders that Biden is not liberal enough.
Regarding Sanders, she said, “We’re different people, and clearly I, in the primary, one of the reasons why I was supportive of Senator Sanders was because of how progressive his stances are, but, you know, the primaries are over, and right now what is most important is to make sure that we ensure a Democratic victory in November and that we continue to push Vice President Biden on issues from marijuana to climate change to foreign policy.”
“I think, overall, we can likely push Vice President Biden in a more progressive direction across policy issues,” she continued. “I think foreign policy is an enormous area where we can improve; immigration is another one. Criminal justice is another area where we can pursue a lot of progressive direction.”

Radicalism isn't just a Democratic issue, of course. The polarization of both parties, especially in D.C., always puts politics before the best interests of the American people.
We don't need a socialist revolution. We don't need more big-government policies from Democrats and Republicans. We don't need more massive spending bills or more top-down dictates from non-elected bureaucrats.
We need more self-governance. We need more freedom. We need more power to reside closer to home, where We the People can influence our elected officials and hold them accountable.
Neither party in D.C. is offering what we really need. That's why we should look to the states, the Constitution, and the people.
An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and the people. It has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government -- and return that power to state and local communities.
It shouldn't matter so much whether the president is on the left or on the right. The president's power should be limited, as should Congress's and the Supreme Court's. We shouldn't be waiting with bated breath to see whether one election could radically change the face of our nation.
A Convention of States can propose the necessary constitutional amendments to restore the balance of power between national and state governments, and reassert the power of the people to govern themselves -- no matter who sits in the White House.
