Another disgusting double standard: Joe Biden's niece avoids jail time for DUI, stealing $110,000

Published in Blog on December 21, 2020 by Article V Patriot

Over the last 12 months, the American people have seen more clearly than ever how the "elite" in society escape prosecution and jail time for crimes that would land most people behind bars.

In March, we reported how high-ranking Department of Justice officials avoided prosecution 27 times in a single year. During the nationwide COVID-19 lockdowns, politicians in state and local governments were caught shirking their own rules time and time again -- with no consequences.

Now we have another example courtesy of the incoming president's family. Joe Biden's niece, Caroline Biden, was caught earlier this year driving under the influence. She wrapped her car around a tree, and was driving without a license while carrying multiple bottles of controlled substances, according to the Daily Wire.

Most Americans would end up in jail. But not Caroline. She was sentenced to five-plus months of probation, with 20 days of rehab in January counted toward her sentence.

And this isn't even the first time this particular Biden has escaped prison. According to the New York Post, Caroline Biden escaped jail time after stealing over $100,000 in a credit card scam:

The wild-child niece of former Veep Joe Biden stole more than $100,000 in a credit card scam — and quietly cut a plea deal in Manhattan court that spares her any jail time. Using a borrowed credit card, the blonde Caroline Biden set up an unauthorized customer account at Bigelow Pharmacy on Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village, and racked up the six-figure bill over the course of a year, according to a criminal complaint that does not name the victim card owner. As part of a plea deal before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Kevin McGrath, Biden, 29, pleaded guilty to one charge of grand larceny and another of petit larceny and agreed to make restitution of $110,810.04.

Americans have a right to wonder: how does someone like Caroline Biden walk free when average Americans would have been in jail long ago?

The answer is obvious enough: corruption in our nation's capital. Our "betters" in Washington call in a few favors and their relatives' legal troubles magically go away. It's disgusting, and it shouldn't happen.

That's why millions of Americans have joined the Convention of States Project. An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that limit Washington's power, mandate term limits, and impose fiscal restraints on Congress.

With these amendments in place, federal politicians won't have the opportunity to grow their power, wealth, and influence to such an extent that they can get their friends and family out of prison scot-free. Much of their power will be limited and dispersed among all 50 states. They won't be able to spend decades in D.C. growing their influence because their terms will be limited, and they won't have trillions of taxpayer dollars to give to their friends because Congress will be forced to balance the budget.

Most importantly, a Convention of States will remind the "elite" in Washington that they aren't really elite at all. We the People are in charge, and we can re-assert our power with an Article V Convention of States.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
