Convention of States patriots are always looking for ways to spread the word about the solution as big as the problem.
Most of us are already aware that the nation is in serious trouble. Everywhere we look, we see the proof. But what is regrettably much less well known is what to do about it.
Social media and the news affirm that from our school boards to Congress to the White House, America is far off course, and they leave us feeling powerless to make a difference. Thankfully, Article V enthusiasts know that the Founders gave us the solution contained within the Constitution.
An Article V Convention of States would enable We the People to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials. That’s why our grassroots army of five million is hard at work to make the first-ever Convention a reality.
But how do we spread the news that there is hope for America? How do we reach those who know the problem but do not know the solution?
The grassroots are at all times looking for new, innovative ways to spread the word about COS, reaching untouched audiences. In recent years, for example, we have implemented block walking, organized efforts to go door-to-door, telling more people how we can use the Constitution to save our country.
I recently spoke to two early COS block walking pioneers, Laurie Sallans and Susan Dunn, about why foot canvassing is such an important asset.
“What I found with block walking,” Laurie explained, “is that 99.9 percent of the people that, when we knock on a door, they answer the door, and we’re able to introduce ourselves and get their attention, they have never heard of Convention of States. So… door knocking and educating these people that there is a grassroots group out here that’s got a solution to take our country back, has been phenomenal.”
“The biggest thing is to get the news out about Article V and our Convention of States movement,” echoed Susan. “At this point in time, most Americans are more than ready to hear our message. So going from door to door in a neighborhood is a very effective way—it takes some time and it takes some manpower—but it’s a very effective way of reaching people and getting that word out.”
Both Laurie and Susan explained that block walking helps reach people who might not otherwise hear about Convention of States.
“In 2021, when we knocked on doors, people hadn’t heard of us,” noted Laurie. “In 2022, when we knocked on doors, people hadn’t heard of us. So no matter where you go, it’s very seldom [that] people know about us.”
“When you greet… individuals on their front porch… as anyone would be, [they’re] a little cautious to “who is this stranger at my front door?” But when they understand your mission, they light up,” added Susan. “It’s almost like they just had this relief that there is another person that understands, and they’re willing to talk about it.”
Of course, beyond utilizing Article V, Convention of States’ mission is to build the largest grassroots army of self-governing activists in American history. To this end, reaching out to those who have not yet heard about Convention of States via block walking is of vital importance. We are thankful for the incredible patriots, including Laurie and Susan, who have pioneered block walking for COS, and look forward to maximizing it in the future.
