America’s doom rests in the vulnerability and susceptibility of our country’s infrastructure.
Because our legislators are failing to do the people's work and keep America and its citizens safe from foreign threats, our infrastructure networks are at risk of being hacked by China.
Chinese malware is believed to be hidden inside American infrastructure networks. The Biden administration has finally grown concerned that China may have already installed malware into networks that control our power grids, communication systems, and water supplies.
Chinese hackers have inserted malicious computer code allowing their military to disrupt our military operations in the event of armed conflict with China or military intervention should China invade Taiwan.
Malicious code would not only affect our military but the lives of Americans as the same infrastructure is used to supply our homes and businesses. Government officials and industry experts who responded to inquiries from The New York Times, reported that Chinese malware issues have been going on for at least a year.
The Biden administration has indicated they are working on efforts to find the code and eliminate it. As can be expected of a broken, inept, federal government, it’s just another case of a dollar short and a day late as the impact will not be fully known until the systems are put under tremendous pressure, as would occur in an armed conflict.
Government officials don’t know the extent of the code's presence in networks but admit the Chinese effort to disrupt our infrastructure appears to be broader than initially thought. Officials advised The Times that searches for the code have focused on areas with military bases – our government allowed a Chinese spy balloon to fly over military bases in early January.
Adam Hodge, National Security Council's acting spokesman stated: "The Biden administration is working relentlessly to defend the United States from any disruptions to our critical infrastructure, including coordinating interagency efforts to protect water systems, pipelines, rail and aviation systems, among others. The president has mandated rigorous cybersecurity practices for the first time."
For the first time?
It is very difficult to understand why, in an age of computerized infrastructures, our government would not have already understood that our enemies would first attack our infrastructure networks.
America needs competent representation in Congress, which is sorely missing. Term limits would allow for new energy, ideas, and action on threats to America.
Convention of States is on a mission to impose term limits and other power restrictions on the federal government. The ineptitude at the federal level is harmful, which is why power must return to the states. To support the movement, sign the petition below.
